Our First Post!
Welcome! Thanks for joining me here for my first ever blog post! I decided I wanted to start a blog to keep a journal of our home and archive the fun stuff we have done so far and all the amazing plans we have for the future! Over the next few weeks, I will be posting individual tours of each room in our home! But you’ve gotta have something to compare to right?! So, I figure the first post needs to be an introduction to the BIG BRICK BEAUTY and explanation as to how we ended up here!
My husband and I met in high school. After graduating and joining the workforce, we were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed ready to take on the world! Within 1 years time we got married, moved 600 miles, had our first child, and purchased our first home! We built this cute craftsman style home and spent the next 3 years making the builder-grade house our home.
We loved this home so dearly! After picking all the finishes when we built it, we decided it need more charm and added a backsplash, updated the laundry room and powder room, and painted. When we bought the home, we went into it knowing it would not be our forever home, so when we added another puppy (we already had 2 to begin with), a pig, and another child to the mix we knew it was time to go! In need of more house, more land and farm animals to put on said land, and more garage space, we set our sights on building, after-all the first time went relatively smoothly. Why not do it again? Then came the logistics of building. Where would we live while the house is built with 2 kids, 3 dogs, and a pot-belly pig? Do we really want to wait a year or more to find the perfect property and build a home? SO I began perusing listings and there she was.
5 Bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3,040 squarefeet on almost 6 acres of land, under budget, in the school district we wanted to be in, with a 2 car garage and a separate oversized 2 car detached garage, with a finished basement! It seemed too good to be true! There was just one problem. I hated brick. And by hated I mean COMPLETELY and utterly loathed it. I wanted a farmhouse on a farm. This did not quite meet my mental “dream house”. She needed some style changes to be more “us”. But it was too perfect everywhere else to say no! So we made the offer and a few weeks later she was ours! Check out the interior pre-move in!
Isn’t she just charming?!!? This was back in December of 2019! We have come a long way in these 6 short months! Keep following along to see all that we have accomplished!
