What You’ll Need

You get complete privacy at a fraction of the cost of blinds! Not to mention they look beautiful! So if you’d like to make some sew-free drop cloth curtains you’ll need:

And that is it! That’s all you need for beautiful custom drapes. And installation is super easy too!

How To Make Beautiful Drop Cloth Curtains

First mount your curtain rod. I chose to mount it higher and wider then my window. Be sure to molly bolt it into the wall as these curtains are heavy!

Then add all of your drapery hooks to the curtain. One thing to think about before clipping is the height of the rod and curtain. I didn’t want these to touch the floor so I took the measurement from rod to floor and subtracted 3 inches. This gave me a small gap at the floor and accounted for the height of the clips. Of course my fabric was longer then my window. There are a few ways to remedy this!

  • Option 1: Hem it. Grab your sewing machine out(or do it by hand!) And hem those suckered! This will give you a more formal finished look.
  • Option 2: Sew-Free hem it. You can do this by grabbing hem tape and ironing it to give you a sew-free hem.
  • Option 3: Use the fold-over method! This is what I chose to do because it was the easiest and I liked the look of a valance! By folding the curtain at the top before clipping you can get the height you need while creating a cute valance style at the top!

Once you know your curtain height and have it folded to where you need it begin adding the clips. I folded the fabric in a wave like pattern each time to make sure my spacing was as close as possible.

Hang ‘Em Up

Finally hang your curtain! Once all of your clips are on its a simple as sliding them onto your curtain rod! *Tip: Place one clip on the outside of the first bracket and the rest on the inside that way when you move the curtains open and closed that clip always stays put and can’t move freely.

And here she is! The beautiful finished product! I am in love!!! Check out our dining room reveal here, complete with before and afters!
