One Year in and We’re Not Stopping
We are finally here. This is a post that I have been looking forward to for a very very long time! We have OFFICALLY been in our home for 1 whole year! We moved into this house just 5 short days before Christmas with no time to decorate. I could not wait to decorate for Christmas this year! Over the past year we have accomplished so much. I am so proud of all of the progress we have made. This house is feeling more and more like a home with each project completion. So without further ado, I give you a side by side comparison of what our house looks…

WANTED: New Fireplace Facade And Hearth
We finally did it, y’all! And I am OBSESSED! Our fireplace got a face lift! It’s not quite done yet, but I’m too excited not to share! When we first bought our home, I loved that it already had a fireplace but hated how it looked! I thought we needed an all new fireplace facade and hearth. Check it out. Disclaimer: In order to continually bring you the best DIYs I can, I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post at no cost to you! Thanks for being here supporting Big Brick Beauty! Ew. Simple. Plain. No character. Wires hanging down. Just not my style, I wanted…

Basement Wall Demo Part 2
We’ve made some more progress on the basement wall demo! This is the wall we had our sights set on next. We grabbed the hammer and started swinging away and before we knew it this is what we were left with! Slowly but surely we are getting there! The next big task for this room? Clean up. Once we get all the debris out of the room the non-load bearing walls can come down. Then we will have to get a contractor to come out and install an LVL beam for the wall that is bearing the load! Stay tuned for more basement progress and some other projects as well!

Basement Wall Demo
Yesterday, I posted the ceiling progress we made on the basement! And today I’d like to show you how far we got on the walls in just 1 short day working only at nap time! If you want to see the basement before photos click here! And here she is in all her messy beauty! I am so happy with the progress and can not wait till the whole wall is gone and we have the open floor plan basement weve been looking for!

Basement Ceiling Demo
It has officially begun! Today was Day 1 of basement ceiling demolition and I must say in pretty pleased with the progress! This is where our basement started! We began removing the panels and here is how far we got during nap time. Just by removing the ugly office panels we gained about a foot in ceiling space(except for the duct work) and even found an additional air vent that was apparently blowing air into the ceiling! We’ve got some really cool plans for the space but we can’t reveal them just yet! Stay tuned!

We built a pig pen!
The other day, I posted about our fence that we built ourselves! Today I’d like to show you the pig pen that came immediately after! Once we had the whole fence up and both gates were secured we moved on to the pig pen. We went with 2 large pens that are 16′ x 16′ each. We put a gate on each pen and a gate between the 2. The goal here was to give Wilbur(our potbelly pig) the whole space for now with the option to add another pig later on and be able to separate and slowly introduce them to make sure everyone gets along! The process here…

We built a fence!
When we bought our home, one of the things I loved most was the land. Our home is situated on almost 6 acres and although most of it is wooded, we have decent sized backyard. The only downfall was that there was no fence yet. With 3 dogs at the time we knew we’d have to get a fence up ASAP. We bought a 10×10 dog kennel as a temporary safe place for the pig to be but we knew he needed his own pen. When we added a 4th mutt to the mix I started calling around for quotes. We needed around 375 linear feet of fencing and we…

I covered the mirror with 3m tape and brown paper. I gave it 3 coats of eclipse milk paint and heres the final result! I am so happy with how this turned out! It was the perfect FREE peice to finish up our guest room! I love working…

Adhesive Removal
Pre-adhesive backed decor items can be a game changer for the do-it-yourselfer. We had this mirror that sat in the garage for months. We weren’t kind to her and when I finally decided I wanted to hang it in the nursery I noticed a few dings on the top of the frame! So instead of repairing and painting it, I decided I was gonna make it girly and cute while covering those ugly scuffs. I used adhesive backed moss and hot glued flowers to the top of it! It made a super cute girly frame for a mirror that never got hung! Super cute right?! Well just over a year…
