Hallway Update
A while ago, I posted the girls’ hall wall. It was one of the first spaces I did here, and it was a dedication to my babies. But a lot has changed since I did that wall. Sometimes, DIYs have to be updated to accommodate a new style, room, or even a new family member! We recently added a new little bundle of joy to our family! Our beautiful little girl, Whalen, came into the world in November of 2022. So our hall wall needed an update. This was the hallway after I made it over the first time. These are my 2 beautiful babies, and each clock has the…

Installing Tongue and Groove Shiplap
Hello again! We are back at mommas house to add some more character to her builder grade home. If you caught my last project here I partnered with Airstone to add a high-end custom look to her builder grade fireplace. A new stone facade complimented by a rustic wood beam mantle added so much warmth to her her living room! The next step was adding warmth to her adjoining kitchen! My mom loves the character in older homes and desperately wants to bring some of that character to a new build! With an open concept living room/kitchen space, cohesiveness is so important! We decided adding stained tongue and groove to…

Sweet Neutral Nursery Reno for a Sweet Baby Girl
When I found out we were expecting ANOTHER little girl, I immediately started planning the nursery! I knew I wanted something calming and serene. Somewhere I could go and snuggle this sweet baby and be able to just relax and feel cozy. After doing my little girls room in pink I knew I didn’t want another pink room but I did want to add a touch of something girly. I ended up with a neutral baby girls nursery with greige walls, a sage green accent wall, and pops of pink for a feminine feel. I started the room makeover by creating a fresh slate and removed everything from the room…

We Created a Linen Closet Out of Nothing!
Let me start out by saying we have ZERO linen closets in our home. Zero. Zippo. Zilcho. Nada. None! In the whole house! Upstairs or down in the basement. None. This was one of the things that irked me most in our home. Where do you put the towels and sheets and blankets!? Well most of it ended up in our closet. And for the girls bathroom we shoved them under the vanity. Was it the ideal situation? No. Did the towels get soaking wet when we had a random leak from the sink drain? You betcha! But we made it work. We didn’t have a choice. And one day…

Quick and Inexpensive Dining Room Makeover Phase 1
When we first looked at our home I really loved our dining room. It is separate from the living space which created an intimate space for family meals. It already had a chair rail, beautiful crown molding, and picture perfect *almost* floor to ceiling windows and I knew a quick and inexpensive dining room makeover was all it needed to be perfect for us! Here’s the canvas we had to work with One of the very first things I did when we moved was change the light fixure to this beauty. And I loved it! It worked for a while. But slowly I got bored with the room. It still…

The Power of Paint in a Living Room
When we moved into our house one of the spaces I loved was the living room! It was bare but I saw the potential of this space and loved its high ceilings. But I didn’t love the blue paint! I knew the living room paint was going to be one of the most inexpensive dramatic transformations we could make with the space. But I knew it’d be a task with the height of the ceilings. This is what the space looked like when we looked at the home. Before New Lighting There were a few things that weren’t my taste but one thing I didn’t love for this particular space…

Upgrading Carpeted Stairs to Beautiful Wood Part 2
Hello again! A few days ago, I showed the prep work that went into making my mom’s stairs from carpeted to beautiful wood! You can see those steps here.*Pun intended* I left off with the stairs sanded and prepped, and my chair rail up. We Begin Again The next step was to stain the stair treads. Once they were stained, I added 3 coats of poly following the dry time instructions listed on the can. The next day I installed the baseboards and used wood putty to cover the nail holes. If you look carefully at the photos above you can see I was sloppy with the stain. This is…

Upgrading Carpeted Stairs to Beautiful Wood Part 1
So I’m back at my mom’s house! If you didn’t get the chance to see the other work I’ve done here feel free to check it out now! I upgraded her builder-grade wire pantry shelves to wooden ones! And I madeover her small laundry closet to make it more functional and more beautiful! When my mom built her house, the standard was carpet on the 2nd floor, stairs, and living room. She chose to upgrade her entire first floor to engineered hardwoods but kept the carpet on the stairs and 2nd floor opting for better padding and stainmaster protection instead. Fast-forward 4 years, 2 dogs, and lots of clay later…

One Year in and We’re Not Stopping
We are finally here. This is a post that I have been looking forward to for a very very long time! We have OFFICALLY been in our home for 1 whole year! We moved into this house just 5 short days before Christmas with no time to decorate. I could not wait to decorate for Christmas this year! Over the past year we have accomplished so much. I am so proud of all of the progress we have made. This house is feeling more and more like a home with each project completion. So without further ado, I give you a side by side comparison of what our house looks…
